Park University to Celebrate 'Windows of Opportunity' Campaign

Park University to Celebrate 'Windows of Opportunity' Campaign

Park University will celebrate the success of its “Windows of Opportunity” fundraising campaign at a ceremony planned for Friday, June 24, beginning at 3 p.m. on the University’s Parkville Campus. The campaign raised $336,000 to replace windows in the historic Norrington Center, which currently houses Park’s Office of Admissions.

The effort began in March 2009 to replace the windows and frames in the 103-year-old building — formerly known as the Carnegie Library — with state-of-the art, custom-made thermal windows. A committee comprised of Park staff and faculty members solicited donations from alumni, faculty, staff, trustees, administrators, students, friends, foundations and a variety of corporations who responded generously.

Students Use More Slang in School Work These Days

The "now generation" has been finding countless ways of sending and receiving information in faster, easier and more efficient ways.

Texting, for example, doesn't require a person to type at length to find out from a friend or family member what they did last night. Facebook can also give information about what a friend or family member is doing in just a sentence, or a few words.

Instructors at UCM have noticed that today's technology may be having a negative effect on students' writing. Read more...

Park University will offer an exciting visit experience for college transfer students later this month. A Transfer Day is scheduled for Tuesday, April 26, on the Parkville campus. Students can arrive anytime from 1 to 6 p.m.

Visiting students will have the opportunity to have their transcripts reviewed for admission and evaluated for credit, meet with faculty, talk to an academic adviser, schedule classes, meet with a financial counselor, meet current students and take a tour of campus.

Gina Mumpower-Turner, Park admissions counselor, said the Transfer Day is a great one-stop shop for students.

This is the first time the Coterie School for Theatre Exploration will partner with Park to offer summer classes.
